STUDENT & PARENT DIRECTED PROGRAMS

FOR OUR STUDENTS

Each student is served through one of our programs, either within their school through an in-school suspension decision-making program,  our After School program or through the Juvenile Court. The services provided will be as follows:

  • Weekly academic tutoring based on individual student needs

  • Weekly peer to peer group counseling sessions

  • Weekly creative arts program to encourage negative behavior deterrence

  • Monthly student support group sessions

  • Attend all in school meetings with parent for IEP, 504, SST and behavior related challenges

  • Teach students how to make appropriate decisions.

  • Work with teachers to develop student academic and behavior intervention plan

  • Mentorship for students by professionals and college age students

  • Leadership training for students

  • Quarterly "Day of Learning and training"  event for parents and students

FOR OUR PARENTS

Parents of each teen will be given a needs assessment at the time the teen is being assessed for enrollment in the program. This needs assessment will be used to identify the parents' sociological, physiological, and psychological needs. In determining these needs, we can then identify potential factors that may affect the student's academic success and resources the parent may need.

Referrals will be made for the parent based on the identified needs. In addition, to external resources that may be obtained for the parent, we will host a mandatory monthly parent support group meeting.  At this meeting, parents will receive support from other parents, and they will be provided with ongoing information on how to effectively work with their child and the school to obtain needed resources for the child's academic success.

STUDENTS WE SERVE

  • Students in 5th - 12th Grade

  • Students in Foster-care

  • Teens in traditional and alternative schools

  • Teens currently involved with or are incarcerated in the Juvenile Justice system.

HOW DO WE HELP?

We work with parents, students, teachers, community organizations and local juvenile courts to identify the reasons why the student is encountering both academic and behavioral difficulties in school and at home. This is done through an academic and behavioral assessment taken at the time the student is enrolled in the program. Once the cause for the academic and behavior challenges are known, we implement a "Road to Success" plan for the student.
